Outstanding idea, Kelly. Coincidentally, we just separated t-shirts that we don’t need. We are happy to donate them to your project. Michele looks forward to taking your class. See you soon.

Congratulations on your wonderful website, tshirttote.org—it is incredible! I wish you success with your Girl Scout Gold Project!
I completed my Gold Award Project, “making and teaching others how to make recycled t shirt totes to replace paper and plastic shopping bags” a few months ago. I spent 84 hours on the project which included training and supervising 25 people who assisted during numerous sewing and informational workshops. Over 225 recycled t shirt tote bags were made during the project- of which, 150 were distributed to shoppers at a local grocery store. I placed the online project sewing directions link and local recycling information in each tote given away to grocery shoppers.
It is exciting to see how the project continues to “live” in that my online directions continue to be viewed. Since May, 2009 when I posted the directions, there have been over 55,000 views. The sewing directions have been translated into several languages including German, Czech, Turkish and French! Here’s the link: http://www.instructables.com/id/FASTEST-RECYCLED-T-SHIRT-TOTE-BAG
Best wishes for a successful Gold Award Project!

~~~Plastic shopping bags are typically used less than 30 minutes and only 1 % are recycled. The average American adult uses approximately 288 bags a year, or 22,000* in an average lifetime…make and use a Recycled T-Shirt Tote Bag today!
